O Dia Numerado 92

Rib Eye Close-up with the Blue Cheese Butter

Brussels Sprouts and Bacon

The Rib Eye and the Fries I Didn't Eat

My Lovely Wife's Scallops

The Heirloom Tomato Amuse-Bouche

We're going out for a romantic dinner tonight. It's kind of a belated Valentine's Day dinner. :-)

The restaurant is supposed to be excellent. They mainly use organic, locally grown and raised ingredients. If it's not in season, they don't serve it. Healthy and delicious?! Bam!

I've already looked over the menu (online) and spied a few LC-friendly menu options I'll likely choose from. But, you never know. I may get all crazy-like and choose something completely different once we get there. :-P

I'll report back and hopefully have pictures to post as well.

Update: The dinner was wonderful. The company was the best, of course. The food was delicious (perfectly cooked steak and scallops) and served quickly - just the way we like it.

10:45 am

+ The Wowee Zowee Meal Replacement Shake - 3 oz of organic heavy cream, 3 oz of purified water, 2 scoops of natural vanilla whey protein powder, 2 tbs of organic flax meal, 1 scoop of Amazing Grass Chocolate Green SuperFood, a pinch of pure stevia, and 1/4 tsp of Also Salt)

2:15 pm

+ 3 thin fillets of petrale sole topped with Italian herbs and sauteed in a mixture of organic butter and organic olive oil. I then covered the fish in a reduced sauce made of white wine, lemon juice, organic butter, "pan bits" (the bits left behind after cooking the fish in the pan) and a little sea salt.

+ 1/2 cup of mashed cauliflower

4:15 pm

+ a cup of instant coffee with a few ounces of organic heavy cream and a pinch of pure stevia

6:15 pm (pictured above *)

+ 1 slice of an heirloom tomato with a little basil and vinaigrette

+ 1 grilled scallop (a gift from my wife's plate)

+ a 14 oz rib eye steak topped with blue cheese butter and a clove of roasted garlic

+ Brussels sprouts with bacon

* Note: I didn't touch the French Fries on the plate. :-)

More to come ... I hope!

I bet you would choose something healthy and low carbish! Cant wait to see how your dinner went. I am continuously amazed at how disciplined you are bloggin your menus! A lot of people appreciate your log so much. I have a question though. How long have you been on a low carb and what is the biggest difference as far as how you feel physically and emotionally? Do you take vitamins and which ones?

That sounds delicious! How nice of them to be so lc friendly - and I bet they don't even know it lol

Enjoy!

Vadim,

I want to answer your question thoughtfully and we're about to head out for dinner.

I'll reply once I get back.

Thank you for your kind words too. :)

Thanks, Erika. :)

I'm sure they don't know. Maybe they'll better understand if I have to ask for any menu substitutions! ;)

Nice to see you back around.

I did pretty well at dinner, Vadim. :)

re: how long I've been LCing

I've been menu blogging for just over 3 months. And I believe I was doing the LC thing, but not in a strict way, for about a month prior to that.

So, let's say that I've been on a pretty solid LC path since about mid/late November.

re: the biggest difference in how I feel, physically and emotionally

I feel a bit better about myself - because I feel less physically awkward and because I feel as though I've accomplished something. I guess I feel less ashamed than I did when I was heavier. I still have many mental struggles but there has been some degree of improvement. I think regular exercise will further improve things. Monday is my exercise start date.

Physically ... I don't get "winded" (out of breath) anymore. I don't snore like I used to. Lately I've been sleeping better. My energy level is somewhat improved ... though I still enjoy my daily coffee. :)

I can't say that an LC diet has been a panacea for me. But, it's been a powerful step in the right direction.

re: Vitamins

I take many supplements. The core of my regimen is a high-potency multi-vitamin/mineral. I also take extra b-vitamins, magnesium, CoQ10, various other antioxidants, krill oil and several other specific supplements for a few health concerns.

If you'd like a more detailed list, I will gladly provide it. :)
