So I'm down another 1 1/2 pounds or so. I'm actually pretty happy with that. This past week has been so off-kilter that I wasn't sure what to expect at the scale. This was a pleasant surprise.

The lesson I re-learned and wish to pass on is this: Even if you feel all messy-like inside, keep doing what's right and you'll likely find positive results. And even if you don't, at least you won't dig yourself further into a hole.

PS - Tonight I took a little drive (while running an errand). I got in my car. Turned on some talk radio. And do you know what popped into my mind? I thought about how much I love(d) going to fast food drive thrus late at night. Eating in my car while listening to the radio. Or sometimes just anticipating the binge that would surely come once I arrived home.

I didn't seriously contemplate making a detour to any of my old junk food haunts. But that feeling was still there. A lot of self-defeating feelings still stick around, even when we wish they wouldn't. It's a reality of life, until (hopefully) one day it isn't.

I can so relate to the car and fast food stops....I have been plagued by that since I got my first car and first job....it's like it was a sign of freedom or something. It's certainly been a bad habit that has been so hard to break.

I was just thinking today of one incredibly embarrassing moment when I was about 20 years old and newly engaged. My car broke down and my future father in law came to assist. In the back seat were a dozen or more empty fast food sacks. I was so crazy with eating fast food that I couldn't even be bothered to HIDE THE EVIDENCE.

I'm sad for that 20 year old. She lost a lot of her life by trying to fill that empty hole with food. Thank goodness, for today, I'm no longer attempting to fill the empty hole with food.

Thanks for sharing, Harry. It's good to know I'm not alone.

Good day, Sybil.

My eating issues have been with me for most of my life. First I starved myself (anorexia nervosa). Then I stuffed myself (binge eating).

Now, I hope I'm finally on the right track. It's about time! :)

Thanks for relaying your personal experience. And also, thank you for displaying how you "battle your demons" on a daily basis - on your blogs. Your introspection and mind-body experiments are an inspiration to me and others I'm sure.

I'm happy you stopped by. Thanks again. :)

Congratulations on the weight loss Harry!
WTG!

Harry I can SOOOO relate to the drive thru. Just tonight I was trying to wheel and deal with myself. I wanted SOOooo badly to stop by one of my favorite haunts. I didn't stop, but it wasn't easy.

What was your highest weight? Just wondering. Your doing such a great job. Keep it up. :)

Thank you, Jo! :)

I think the highest I got was about 260 lbs.

Good job on resisting temptation and making the best decision for yourself. You did good!
