Holy Guacamole! Octopus!

I need to start making "to do" lists for myself. Trying to remember everything that needs to get done just isn't possible without them. My mind naturally gravitates to a more "free spirit" approach to living but that just doesn't work with the realities of my life. Actually, not planning enough ends up being more of a burden because then I'm always in a position where I have to try and remember things on the spot. < -- not my strong suit I hope this will make some sense to somebody out there. Otherwise I'll have to add "make more sense" to my daily schedule. A tall order indeed.

I know exactly what you mean. Without making lists at work I'd be perpetually lost, get focused on one thing and all else would be ignored. That leads to panic and more stress than I need. I use big post-it notes with TODAY written at top and all that is to be accomplished along with supplementary lists dated in order of upcoming deadlines, and more notes on the side for budget remaining for each thing. I love the GreaseMonkey addons for Gmail that allows me a gazillion personalized colorful labels. I'd be lost without that too. I guess I love living life without care, but by necessity I am super organized with things that need to be done. Mad World indeed.

Harry, I love making "to do lists" but half the time I forget where I put them.. LOL

I could nor function without my list.

I can't do the post it notes, I'm always worried about losing them. LOL Medium spiral notebook for me. :)

I will try to follow your lead, Oct! :-)

I find that taping them to my forehead works pretty well, LC. :-) It's also a great conversation starter.

"Hey, I have to do the laundry today too!"

I think I'll probably go the notebook route as well, Jo. In fact, I have some around. But I find that they don't work very well if I don't use them. Go figure! :-)

Do you have a diary? I felt so liberated when I first started using one.

Absolutely listen to Oct, she's right on the money. :)

Erika,

I don't have a diary. Unless you consider this blog it! :-)

Well then you need to get one - they're probably cheap this time of year :)

Just crack it open and begin with birthdays and anniversaries. Then with things that need to be renewed (cat registration, etc). Enter in the times you are going to the gym and meets you have with people for coffee. Do you know anyone having surgery or going to hospital? Put that in too so you know when to get them flowers. Enter in all your bills, their amounts and when they're due. All your functions including time, who it's for and the full address.

Repeat.

It'll take you half an hour but it will be the best move you've ever made!

Oh! That kind of diary! I thought you meant the type where you input all your personal thoughts and feelings, etc.! :-)

I'm beginning to use the calender on my computer. It sends pop ups and reminders of all the important data I enter into it.

It's actually really helpful. I will strive to utilize it more!

Thanks for the advice and encouragement, Erika!

Okay JP/Harry.....IM not on board with the Octopus Salad ahahhahhahah

Just wanted to pop in and offer up some support and ya had to grosse me out with tenticles. I see everyone else was being polite and not mentioning it lol I hope this post comes across as funny and not critical like over at Jimmy's blog cause I really dig your menu's and think the world of you and your accomplishments on low carb eating.
Have a great weekend!!!!

Ha! :-) I figured there would be some controversy about the octopi!

To be honest, this octopus salad wasn't all that tasty. But I do love well cooked octopus. I first tried it at one of Mario Balali's restaurants in New York. I'm telling you it's incredible! :-)

If you're ever feeling really adventurous ... give it a shot - maybe at a good restaurant that won't mess it up. You may be surprised!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend too, Deborah!

Harry, I am just learning how to use all the functions of my email account at work to help me not forget stuff. At home, I have a post-it widget on my laptop that helps me out with my honey-dew list.
Yumm-E Octopus! I *heart* it, I've never seen it at my whole foods though. Hmm, may have to do some investigative shopping.

Howdy, Sadekat!

Yeah, I know there are so many computer features that I'm missing out on. I'm a bit of a "technophobe".

The WF octopus may be a regional thing. I always find it in the seafood area where they have the cold, prepared side dishes such as the ready to eat shrimp and salmon "poke", etc. It's kind of like one of those food islands - similar to the soup islands they have around the store. If that makes any sense!

I hope you and Mr. Sadekat are both feeling well and enjoying the weekend (when you're not working)!
