Look, Ma! A picture!

Photo credit goes to my lovely wife. :-)

Tuesday - December 2, 2008

7:30 am

+ one cup of "choco-coffee" - (two tablespoons of pure cocoa powder, one teaspoon of instant coffee, hot water, one packet of stevia + FOS and a dash of half-and-half)

9:00 am

+ a vanilla whey protein shake - (two scoops of natural vanilla whey protein powder, 4 oz of half-and-half and one packet of stevia + FOS)

1:30 pm

+ a large serving of a shrimp, spinach and grilled onion dish *

* I had an allergic reaction to this, I do believe. I've had it many times before without incident. Not sure why that happened. I look funny enough without the red blotches on my face. God must have a sense of humor. :-)

4:30 pm

+ a large, iced coffee Americano with a few ounces of half-and-half

7:00 pm

+ approx. 6 oz. of sliced leg of lamb

+ half-cup of homemade creamed spinach

+ quarter-cup of homemade mashed cauliflower

10:15 pm (pictured above)

+ one Roma tomato (sliced)

+ three (+ one) slices of prosciutto (I had an extra slice after the photo shoot)

+ sour cream (as a topping)

+ blue cheese (approx. 2 oz)

+ one glass of red wine

More to come ... I hope!

Hmmm allergic reaction doesn't sound good! Maybe it was just that batch specifically?

I had a similar reaction (well, I got sick) over the weekend that I think was due to a new meal at a new restaurant. Did you cook your yourself?

Howdy, Erika. Thanks for stopping by.

It could have been a bad batch. I sure hope so because I really enjoy that dish!

Luckily, the reaction was rather short-lived. It only lasted about an hour or so. Not so bad.

I didn't cook the shrimp salad myself. I got it a high-end cafeteria-style place.

No matter. The rest of my meals were really fine today. I'm a happy camper.

Good luck with your upcoming day!

Be well!

Thanks, NewVision.

I was talking to Vadim about posting pictures yesterday and thought I'd just play around with it a little.

I love bite-sized foods. Finger foods, ya know?

If you ever give it a try, let me know if you enjoy it.

Hope you have a winning day!

Good looking food, Harry! Good photography also.

I like finger food, too. I love the restaurants here that serve only appetizers (or called tapas, depending on the price).

Could it be a spice with the dish? A friend of mine has an allergy to one of the spices I use in Mediterranean dishes.

Finger food is my worst enemy hehehe. Unless I make it myself, I totally lose sight of how much I've eaten and how hungry/full I'm feeling.

Maybe there is a way around this??

Hey, hey, hey, Erika.

I see what you're saying about finger foods. They can be wicked.

You mentioned, "I totally lose sight of how much I've eaten and how hungry/full I'm feeling.

Maybe there is a way around this??"

I can think of a few ways to avoid the finger food pitfalls.

First, like you said, make your own. That way you know what's in them and you can avoid trigger-ingredients.

Secondly, avoid any sweet-tasting finger foods. Small, bite-sized sweets are a disaster (for me at least). By that, I would include most sweet-tasting meats like meatballs or chicken wings with any kind of sweet sauce.

Lastly, I would think that eating more slowly and mindfully could help. For instance, instead of just popping the finger foods in our mouths ... we could actually think about how many we're eating.

The combination of slowing down and allowing our bodies to experience satiation and also being consciously aware of what we're eating sounds like a good combo to me.

Luckily, I don't go to many parties where I'm tempted by foreign finger foods. At home, they're no problem and I like 'em!

I'll try to come up with some more healthy finger foods. Hopefully they'll be something you can enjoy too without the danger!
