Dag Achttien

This is what I didn't have at tonight's Christmas Party!

Wish me luck. Tonight is our office Christmas party! I'll let you know how it went later tonight ...

Update 10:45 pm - I'm back home now. I just had a satisfying LC snack and I'm ready to proclaim ... I did not succumb to the temptation of pepperoni pizza, free soda & spirits and crouton-laden Caesar salad! Hooray!

What I did do is prepare ahead of time. I brought a hearty dinner to have prior to going to the bowling alley for the party. I ate my LC dinner, drank my nutritional supplements and then departed for an evening of knocking down bowling pins with my colleagues.

I had thought that I might enjoy a drink or two, to mellow myself out. But, it seemed like the only thing on tap was beer and mixed-drinks. I'm not a beer or mixed-drink kind of guy. Red wine's my game. So, I just stuck with bottled-water.

All told, not a bad evening. I got some exercise (bowling). I hung out with some cool people and I "stuck to my guns".

I'll chalk this up as a victory.

I noticed the addition for also salt to your diet. Is there a reason you are including this? Just being nosy!

Howdy, Sadekat.

There are three main reasons for the addition of the Also Salt.

1. Historically, humans consumed much more potassium than they do today. Also, we used to consume much less sodium than we do now.

So, I'm using AS as a way to help bring things back into a more historically-accurate balance.

2. I have to keep an eye on my blood pressure. It's not out of control but I think it's wise to keep it at an optimal range.

Potassium can help to lower BP.

3. I use it as a kind of electrolyte replacement. I tend to perspire quite a bit. And, I think sprinkling my food with Also Salt is probably healthier than using other forms of electrolyte replacement products.

BTW, I was turned on to AS by Jimmy (Moore).

Off to the Christmas party!

Harry, your menus sound really delicious! Your dinner today reminds me I have a pound of ground lamb in the freezer that needs to be cooked! Maybe I will try making an Alton Brown "gyro" log!

Cheers,

Thanks, pooti!

I really enjoy lamb.

I'm unfamiliar with Alton's "gyro" log but I'm sure it's got to be tasty. He's one heck of a culinary wizard!

Cheers back at ya! :)

Great job, Harry on planning ahead and getting through the party without problems. That is wonderful.

And, I'm with you.....they can keep the beer and mixed drinks....I'll wait for the wine!

Cheers and thanks for your support on my efforts.

Hi Harry,

Well done! You've now set a high benchmark to achieve for my work function this weekend. Wish me luck! I'll need it!

Oh... and did you win at the bowling? hehehe

Thanks, Sybil and Vadim. :)

Erika - I may not have won but at least I didn't hurt anyone. Me + rolling heavy objects is a recipe for disaster! Luckily, everyone got out alive! :)

I think you're going to do great at the party. And, even if you slip a little or make a planned exception or two ... I know you'll get back to your program right quick!

Thanks to you all for your supportive comments! They're much appreciated!
