Día Tres

Another late start to my day. I'm working from home today and that tends to push my wake-up and go-to-sleep times upward. Tomorrow, I'll be back at the office and will therefore start and end my day earlier.

I think I'll begin adding a record of my weight later this week. My plan will be to weigh-in once a week.

Monday - November 24, 2008

11:00 am

+ one cup "choco-coffee" (a few tablespoons of pure cocoa powder, a teaspoon of instant coffee, a dash of half-and-half and stevia to taste)

12:15 pm

+ a vanilla-whey protein shake (natural vanilla whey protein powder, 4 oz of half-and-half and stevia to taste)

2:15 pm

+ a fillet of catfish
+ homemade mashed cauliflower (steamed cauliflower, butter-sauteed garlic, Also-Salt, pepper, half-and-half and cream cheese)

4:15 pm

+ one cup of "choco-coffee" without the usual half-and-half

8:45 pm

+ a cinnamon-vanilla whey protein shake (natural vanilla whey protein powder, 4 oz of half-and-half, a dash of cinnamon and stevia)

12:00 am

+ approx. 2 oz. of pancetta

+ approx. 2 oz. of blue cheese

+ 1 glass of red wine

More to come tomorrow?

Thanks, Vadim.

I'm giving it my best shot.

So far, it's kind of fun. :-)

Harry, how much calories is in those few tablespoons of cacao? And how many carbs? I might use them in my protein shake to make it a bit creamy and thick!

I'm not sure. The serving size is described as 1/4 cup.

The nutritional facts can be found here:

One of my weak points is not wanting to get too involved with specific amounts - be they calories or serving sizes, etc.

I try to look at the overall picture. I know that the Now Foods Organic Cocoa provides 11.5 grams of carbs per 1/4 cup serving. Of those total carbs, 6.5 are fiber.

So, 1/4 cup would provide approx. 5 grams of "effective carbs". And, I know that I'm probably using less than 1/4 cup - based on my "eyeball estimate".

Therefore, I figure I'm alright as long as I don't add a bunch of additional carbs to the mix.

I don't know if that makes any sense to you. But, in my crazy cranium, it seems reasonable. :-)

If you try it, I hope you like it. Please note that it's powerful stuff! It REALLY tastes like chocolate!

Over and out!

Hi Harry,

I think we've got the same crazy cranium then! I follow more of a food group mindset rather than calories or portions.

Keep up the good work!
