And On the Second Day, He Tried to Keep on Keeping On

Every once in awhile, I like to incorporate a lighter diet. Typically, on such days, I utilize the aid of a fiber supplement as well. It's sort of a time to give my digestive system a bit of a rest and to help cleanse.

Please note that I do not suffer from constipation. Some people, on low carb diets, appear to have this problem. I do not. I simply use the fiber as a way of "working out" my system of elimination.

Having said all that, this is what I've eaten so far:

Hi! Intresting menu! Do you mix cacao with coffee and put it in mix it with half and half? Is it more like a pudding consistency? It is definitely intresting combination. How long have you been on low carb lifestyle?

Hello, Vadim.

Thank you for dropping by.

The "choco-coffee" is more of warm drink - at least that's the way I make it. Think of a caffeinated "hot chocolate". :)

I make such a beverage for a few reasons:

1. As an energy-booster. Both coffee and pure cocoa tend to give you an energy kick and provide a mood-elevating effect.

2. Pure cocoa may be very healthful with regard to cardiovascular health. This is an area of concern for me.

There's a wealth of recent clinical research that suggests that cocoa polyphenols may also promote wellness in other areas as well (chemoprevention, cognition, mood, etc.).

3. Pure cocoa is very nutritious. It provides a significant amount of magnesium, potassium, fiber, phytochemicals, etc.

re: my low carb lifestyle

I've been on and off of a low carb program over the past year. When I stick to the program, I feel better and I lose weight. The opposite occurs when I get off course.

I'm determined to stick with it this time around. Hope springs eternal. :)

Hello, Vadim.

I use the Now Foods brand of pure, organic cocoa. It is 100% cocoa - no sweeteners added. I buy it online in order to save a little money.

The instant coffee that I use is a caffeinated, organic product. I also buy this online or at my local health food store.

Please note that I linked to IHerb only because I usually shop there. There may be better prices, to be found, on the 'net. I have no financial affiliation with the IHerb site.

PS - I also noticed that my local super market (Ralph's) started to carry their own line of organic, instant coffee for a few dollars less. I may try it out once I finish my current coffee stash. :-)

lol, even if you did have financial affiliation, i wouldnt mind. if the product is decent, and the price is ok, i could care less> There is absolutely nothing wrong with people recommending their favorite products or websites of their choice, and if they make a buck, i dont mind! but thanks for the link, really appreciate it. will check them out. I bought an almond milk( diamond almond Milk0 which is not bad at all for an unsweetened one and only paid 1.99 at Traders Joe here in NYC. amazing price. i was buying them at nutrition.com for like 3.49, isnt that some saving and it was recommended to me by anothe lowcarb fellow. Again, thasnks!

Trader Joes' rocks! Really good prices on many items. And, some pretty cool and interesting foods to choose from.

But man oh man is that place always packed. Talk about a consumer traffic jam!

It depends where you reside. Here in NYC area we have few of them, and recently they opened one right down where I live in Brooklyn. Lines are alwyas there, but with 15 cahsiers it goes really fast! I will check their cocoa and will try that with instant coffee and stevia. It really sounds delicious
