Three Trips and a Funeral

Our Pre-Feast Table - On the Left is Some Pâté and Gherkins

Pies We Didn't Eat

Dear Ladies and Gents,

Much has occurred since I last blogged here. There was an unexpected funeral in New York. Thanksgiving in Martha's Vineyard. Lots of scrambling before, during and after both of those events. Now Mad's getting ready to head off to Cannes! Help!

I'm sorry for kind of slipping off the face of the Earth for awhile. I've barely been able to keep up with Healthy Fellow these days. But I'm determined to get back on the right track on Wowee Z beginning this upcoming week.

I apologize for not being as supportive as I'd like to be on your blogs as well. It's been a rather overwhelming time. But the good news is that both Mad and I are staying on course - M's been losing weight and feeling great and I've been maintaining my recent LC loss. No slip ups to speak of ... even with all the hustle and bustle.

I hope you're all doing well and that our paths will cross again soon ...

PS - I just added a few meager photos from our Thanksgiving. We didn't take many because we were still recovering from the days leading up to the holiday - the funeral prep and the funeral itself.

We mostly ate turkey with gravy, Brussels sprouts with smoked bacon and pecans and garlic-baked green beans ... also some fresh crab meat. The food was delicious! For starters we had some locally made pâté and mini pickles. What a feast!

Dearest Harry
You take all the time to do all the things you need.
I will send good thoughts to all the low-carbers.
Om om om how's that?
LC -ers and others, so as not to leave anyone out.
Good that you and Mad are keeping on track!

I hope you are not too lost with Mad gone to Cannes.

I received Anne's Om's and feel much better now. :)

Sadekat,

It's always an adjustment but I'll survive. I suppose it's good to have some time apart too ... kind of, sort of. :-|

The alone time will allow me to blog a bit more. So that's a good thing. Plus I know Mad will be happy spending some time in France ... even though it's work-related.

Anne has a way making everyone feel better, doesn't she? She's got a gift for such things!

I shall be visiting your cave soon! I hope things are progressing well with the new business!

The new business is doing well, every day we are a little bit busier and we already have a good group of regulars!

Harry, I am very glad to hear that you are back and doing well considering your situation.

Stay the course and all will be well :)

PS Thanks for the links to the U2 concert..it was stupendous :)

Maybe you should try some new restaraunts while Mad is away so you can take her out for romantic evening when she gets back...

I'm happy to hear it! :-) I wish we lived closer so we could become regulars as well!

Thanks, LC!

Happy to know you enjoyed the U2 show. It was something else!

We'll stay the course for sure - at least, that's the plan. :-) Mad was trying on clothes to bring on the trip tonight and was so happy to fit into pants that were "off limits" for such a long time. She's succeeding and I couldn't be happier to watch her do it!

Good idea about the restaurants. I think I'll try out some new recipes while I'm living solo. Maybe I can surprise her with both. :-)

Thanks for stopping by. It was good to hear from you. I'll be heading over to your blog shortly ...

It's great to hear from you between the business. Funerals are always sobering so I hope you are keeping your spirits up. Cannes ... wow. That lady of yours lives an exciting life. :) Happy to know that you both are well and having continued success with LC. Ask Mad to share some photos from her trip ... speaking of photos, any knew ones from Martha's Vineyard. I dream of vacationing there sometime! So pretty.

Good day, Nina!

My wife will be attending a convention about "luxury travel". She works in the entertainment industry and needs to stay up on such things. Tough job, eh? ;-)

Happy to have you visiting here. Stop by any time!

Cilla,

This is just my opinion but I think a simple, low carb diet is a great option for avoiding yeast. By that I mean both yeast found in food and foods that contribute to the growth of yeast (such as candida albicans) in the body.

If I were trying to discourage a systemic yeast issue, I'd focus on simple, whole foods that were low in carbs. Meal example: a salmon fillet or grilled chicken with a side of a non-starchy vegetable (avocado, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, etc.).

I'm also a big believer in the use of probiotics. These healthy bacteria can help crowd out potentially harmful microorganisms.

PS - I used to have certain skin issues (eczema and beyond) that we appeared to be influenced by fungi. I'm quite certain that following a low carb diet has helped me to avoid any recent skin trouble. Having said that, I do continue to use probiotics as well.

I hope this helps. I will indeed drop by soon! :)

Oct,

Due to the circumstances ... we didn't snap too many photos. To be honest, we were emotional wiped out - in a bit of a haze. I'll post one of the pics from Thanksgiving day though.

Mad's taking our little digi-camera. Hopefully she'll have a chance to capture some of the excitement! :-)

Vadim,

I actually thought of you while we were in NYC. It was an unexpected trip that just got crazier and more stressful by the moment. We didn't know we were going until the day of. When we arrived, we didn't know there would be a funeral ... but there was and we need to arrange it! Crazy, sad days. But next time ... you'll be hearing from us!

I have to hold down the fort while Mad's away. It's a business trip for her - hopefully mixed with some fun too. But I have my hands full with things that need doing here. Hopefully we'll get back there together in the near future. Here's hoping ...

A vacation would probably do you good. A new locale and fresh perspective. Any chance you can take one soon?

I know you've been struggling lately but I'm confident you'll find your way. Never, never, never stop fighting the good fight. You deserve to feel well and too be genuinely healthy. If I can help you accomplish that, just let me know.

Hope you have an excellent weekend, Mr. V. :-)

LOL I am just laughing at the "pies we didn't eat" :-D

Sorry to hear of the funeral though.

I'm glad Mads losing weight, gives me hope and you maintaining makes me think there is a point at which I will be at my goal weight and this weight thing wont be so stressful. Carry on!

:-D

Howdy, Nancy! :-)

Those pies sure did smell good. Their aroma permeated the entire house - and it's a big, big, big house! No escaping it! But seriously, it wasn't much of a temptation. There were plenty of other treats to enjoy. :-) Life is good.

There is indeed hope. I sincerely believe that if I can lose weight (and keep it off ... without suffering) ANYONE can! Honestly, I was a tough case.
