Rib Eye Steak (slightly overcooked) with a Sliced Roma Tomato

It's Saturday morning. I had a really restless night of sleep last night. I simply couldn't get comfortable. Too cold. No! Too warm. Couldn't seem to position my pillow quite right. Too much light in the early morning. Every possible sleep disturbance occurred, with the exception of poltergeist.

Note to self:
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to watch a horror film (1408) while trying to fall asleep?

The truth is that I think I'm doing fairly well with my diet but not so much with the exercise or the meditation. There are also some other psychological issues that need attending to. But, I need to prioritize. And I haven't been in the right mental space to get all those issues in order ... yet.

In the meantime, I did send Mr. Jimmy Moore my info. yesterday (my BIO and a photograph). And he replied saying that he's looking forward to the interview! So, it looks like it's actually going to happen! Hard to believe. Exciting though. :-)

I've got a busy day ahead of me. A busy weekend actually. So off I go. Look out world, here I come!

10:30 am

+ a cup of "choco-coffee" - (2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of instant coffee, 1 packet of Also Salt and stevia + FOS and hot water)

note: I temporarily switched to another brand of organic cocoa powder. I buy the Now Foods brand online - for a better price. I bought the Dagoba cocoa because it was the only organic variety at my local health food store. I thought it tasted just fine. I'm not sure which one of the two is of better quality.

12:00 pm

+ scrambled eggs ala Harry - 3 omega-3 eggs, a splash of heavy cream, grilled onions, an once or two of soft goat cheese, two packets of Also Salt

3:00 pm

+ 6 slices of natural salami (whole salami, sliced thick)

+ a few ounces of Manchego (sheep's milk) cheese

+ 3-4 tablespoons of full-fat sour cream

+ a small Roma tomato

+ a glass of red wine

5:30 pm

+ a cup of "choco-coffee" - (2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of instant coffee, 1 packet of Also Salt and stevia + FOS and hot water)

7:45 pm (pictured above)

+ a medium-sized rib-eye steak

+ a small Roma tomato

11:15 pm

+ a cup of mixed tea - (two bags of organic white tea and one bag of an organic spicy ginger blend)

More to come ... I hope!

Can't wait for the interview, Harry.

Good luck with the other issues....maybe you need to schedule yourself an hour or two....an 'artists date' ala Julia Cameron style? I always find it helps to carve out a little space of time for myself as 'thinking' time (or in my case, contemplating the fuzz in my navel time). Just the act of breaking away from normal life for an hour or so helps me clear the cobwebs.

Have you ever thot of getting a personal trainer? I went to one for awhile when I was working-couldn't really afford it, but it was WONDERFUL and I felt very "in shape" and strong. I'm having a tough time exercising on my own. My latest idea is to get some exercise videos from the library.

Thanks, Sybil!

I've always been better at distracting myself as opposed to taking some time for myself - to truly reflect and delve inward.

That's something I think I really need to improve upon.

Howdy, Lynn.

I've never really given it too much consideration. I'm a little self-conscious at the gym. So, having someone direct all that attention on me might be tough. I know, I'm way too neurotic for my own good.

I do have one exercise DVD. I just need to use it more! :)

I have an idea though. Do you think it might help if we both started posting how much or how little exercise we've done each day? Maybe that will be a good incentive and reminder for us? Just a thought.

Harry, your diet coontinue to look amazingly disciplined and quite tasty! I have no doubts your interivew will be a huge success! You are a low carber of the hihgest order. And you are part of our world. Lots of people who have gotten to know you can testify how supportive and considerate you are, plus your well of experience and knowledge is instrumental in here. I am sure a lot more people will find who you are, keep my fingers crossed, and you can help others get to the bottom of it. As far as exercise I just ordered my second pedometer last night. You can go on amazon.com and look at Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer with Advanced Omron Health Management Software

sorry i didnt know how to link it from amazon other than copy and paste. I had a pedometer once by Omron, they are amazing little devices and very accurate. It will help you to keep your steps up. Everyone seems to agree that you need to walk in the range of 10,000 steps a day. But the more I was walking the more this little device would motivate me to walk. It kind of fun to beat yourself and to challenge yourself to more steps daily. There were day s when I only did 9000 steps at 11 pm and would run a few laps just to make it to 10000. I dont know if you would like that idea but something to consider at least!

Thanks, Vadim!

It's so funny that you mentioned a pedometer. My dad was just trying to sell me on the idea - as a birthday present. What a coincidence!

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. And thanks again for all your kindness and moral support. It really does help. :)

Oh Harry! I'm not old enough to watch horror flicks! :) Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. I know you know, that dealing with things must be in your own time. You will get to them and attend them when you're ready.

The menu looks awesome again dude!

Good luck with Monday. I'm excited for you. :) Have a great weekend, Harry.

Thanks, Pooti!

Hope you also have a swell weekend!

My weekend's about to get a little better. There's a rib eye in the oven with my name graffitied all over it!

Harry, I dont believe in coincidences! I am a big fan of quantum physics, should I say more! The explanation is pretty simple " All great minds think alike, lol! Your dad must be a very smart guy! I cant stomack walking by myself, its pretty hard since I am such a clown and need to either entertian or be intertained. I find and have always found myself in shit load of troubles when I am bored. So a little pedometer and my German shephard helped a lot. Then my german shephard body was getting reluctant to the idea of walking a lot and let me know about it by hiding from me every time I got aleash. He is pretty smart dude! But now its time to hit the road Jack again!

Hola, Vadim!

Yeah, my pops is a pretty sharp fellow. I have the feeling you two would get along quite well. :)

He's an engineer, by trade, and has recently retired. Now, he attends classes at a local university and spends the rest of the time driving my mom nuts!

I suppose I should reconsider the pedometer idea. I dismissed it earlier. But, who am I to go up against quantum physics?

Vadim said...

Pedometer is either going to drive you insane or help you alot! But again its not expensive and very good little guy!

Vadim said...

Harry, what about trampoline? Like a rebounded they advertise on TV. Some people swear by them. Its pretty good and even healthy! Its supposedly clears and helpd move your lymphatic system. I was considering buying one but decided to get a new pedometer and start walking again for now!

Harry/JP said...

Mr.V,

I've read about the benefits of "rebounding". That may be an option. I'm only slightly concerned about getting my head stuck in the ceiling.

re: the pedometer

If I'm already crazy, would it make me sane?

One way or the other, I need to getting moving or bouncing or jazzercizing or something!

Vadim said...

I cling to the notion that pedometer is like a ginger. It is considerd an aptogen, I am not sure if there is such a word in english, but in russian it means that aptogen is a substance that reverses the condition according to your needs. So if I am crazy for example the pedometer would do the opposite and make me less crzay or more sane. Lol, in your case it would make you a walking Jack Lalane, no doubt!

Harry/JP said...

Senor V,

There is such a word in the English language: adaptogen. It's commonly used in among herbalists and natural health geeks, like me.

I'm not aware of ginger being considered an adaptogen but ginseng is.

I could use more of Jack LaLanne's spirit in me. :)

Harry, its exciting to learn that Jimmy is going to interview you...

As far as meditating and sleep issues, have you tried any type of teas ? decaf, or cammoile ? green teas are good also for relaxing... nice warm cup before bedtime.

Or perhaps you just need a good low carb stuffed animal :) grin

Hi Harry,
I like the idea of posting exercise daily. I'll try to remember to do that.

Vadim said...

Harry, you are right on! I was very tired when I wrote a comment. Sure its called adaptogen, I have no idea how I wrote aptogen, lol. And I surely meant ginseng not ginger, lol! So pedometer is like ginseng, it will make you walk more if you need it! And it comes with a software that you can hook up to your computer and it will monitor your caloric expenditure and step counts as a graph! It is a cool device unless you hate walking!

Harry/JP said...

Good day, Bayoubabe.

I think I'll switch to chamomile tea prior to bed. It's a really healthful tea and should help me mellow out before catching some z's.

Thanks for the good advice. :)

Harry/JP said...

Hola, Lynn.

I'll start including my exercise count (or lack thereof) beginning tomorrow.

Who knows? It may serve as a good (free) incentive?

Harry/JP said...

Thanks for the clarification, Vadim.

I'm still thinking about my various options:

+ logging my daily exercise - on the blog

+ using a pedometer

+ bouncing around on a trampoline

A decision will be forthcoming!
